Emergency Response Planning is critical for all aircraft operators, including airlines and unscheduled/private operators, and airports/airfields, as well as manufacturers and other companies involved in aviation activities (e.g. training and air sports organisations).

Even countries need Aviation Emergency Response Plans to deal with disasters ranging from aviation accidents to natural disasters (earthquakes, volcanoes and hurricanes, for example) and health emergencies such as disease/viral outbreaks (COVID-19 being the most recent example). In addition there is the threat of terrorist attacks or hijackings, and the outbreak of conflicts.

Individuals and companies should consider their own emergency response planning, as well as insurance. Companies such as Medaire / International SOS provide global medical evacuation flights, or assistance in the event of people needing to be evacuated from a danger zone.
